Why it matters
A conversation can alternate speakers without leaving much room for either person to feel understood. Curiosity shows up in the follow-up: a question about something you mentioned, a pause that gives your answer space, or a willingness to learn that an assumption was wrong.
Interest does not require perfect questions or equal speaking time in every conversation. Someone may need more support on a particular day. Over time, notice whether there is room for both people's experiences and whether you can say when you would like more space.
